🔒 The short version: We do not own, sell, or share your personal data. What you store stays on your account. We use trusted third-party services (Google and Stripe) to handle all data storage and payments securely.
Who We Are
GET My .FOOD ("we", "us", "our") is a food discovery service at getmy.food that helps users find restaurants by ingredient or dish, and provides AI-generated recipes.
What Data We Collect
When you create an account we collect:
- Your name and email address
- Your city, state, and ZIP code (optional, used to personalize results)
- Your search history and saved recipes (only if you are logged in)
- Restaurants you choose to save
We do not collect payment information. All payments are handled directly by Stripe.
Where Your Data Is Stored
User account data is stored securely on Google Firebase / Firestore — Google's cloud infrastructure, which is protected by Google's enterprise-grade security, encryption at rest, and access controls. We do not host or control these servers ourselves.
Payment data for advertisers is stored exclusively by Stripe, a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified payment processor. We never see, store, or have access to any credit card numbers or payment details. Stripe handles all billing and subscription management.
How We Use Your Data
- To display your search and recipe history in your account
- To save your favorite restaurants
- To send you results or recipes you request via email (only when you use the share feature)
- To show aggregate usage statistics to site administrators (total searches, total users — no personally identifiable information is shown in these stats)
What We Do NOT Do
- We do not sell your data to third parties
- We do not share your personal information with advertisers
- We do not use your data for targeted advertising
- We do not store credit card numbers or payment details
- We do not track you across other websites
Cookies & Local Storage
We use browser localStorage to remember your dark mode preference and to temporarily store pending searches before you log in. No third-party tracking cookies are used on this site.
Advertisers
If you submit an ad through our advertise page, the business information you provide (name, address, phone, website, ad content) will be displayed publicly in search results on GET My .FOOD. Payment and subscription management is handled entirely by Stripe. By submitting an ad you agree to your business information being displayed on our platform.
Your Rights
You can delete your account at any time by contacting us. Upon deletion we will remove your personal data from our Firestore database. Note that Google Firebase may retain backups for a short period per their own data retention policies.
